Balanced Mixers

A balanced mixer combines the RF signal with a LO (local oscillator) signal to provide a IF (intermediate frequency) output signal. The IF signals from an ideal mixer are the sum and difference of the RF and LO signals.

Most practical mixers are not balanced, and the RF and LO signals will be present at the IF output port. A balanced mixer allows either the LO or RF signal to be suppressed at the IF port.

MM Microwave’s mixers are constructed from waveguide and incorporate the required diode holder, so that the diode can be replaced as required. The diodes are not supplied.
